NCCJ has now opened the applications for the 2018 Deshima Business Awards
The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce in Japan (NCCJ) has now opened the applications for the 2018 Deshima Business Awards! The NCCJ, supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, would like to award companies with Dutch roots that lead the way in Japan – those companies that have demonstrated successful business development in Japan, and have added value to society.
We will be considering a wide range of companies, from small start-ups that are making their first steps on Japanese soil to established multinationals. NCCJ members, non-NCCJ members, previous winners… every organization with Dutch roots is eligible to apply. For previous winners, we only accept applications with different content compared to the year they have won.
Winning the awards will give your company significant exposure, boosting the further development of your business relationships in the Japanese market. Entrants will benefit from overall profiling of your company in the market, networking opportunities, as well as showcasing the success of your Japan operation within your organization and to peer group companies. Apply now, and spread the word!
How to apply
The application is a two-step process. First, we kindly ask you to complete the “participant request form” that can be accessed through the link below. Please fill in this form before May 31. All eligible participants will then be asked to fill in an additional two-page application form, to promote the achievement of the company, which then will be sent to the jury. The judging panel will review these final applications and all applicants will be informed of the panels’ decision.

Selection of the Jury and Winners
The NCCJ will not evaluate the applicants by itself, but establish a prestigious judging panel, consisting of representatives from both the Japanese and Dutch business community in Japan, especially for this occasion. The panel members, a mix of government and business representatives, will be carefully selected in order to provide a wealth of professional perspectives. The judging panel will come together after all applications have been submitted, and select one winner in the “large company” segment and one winner in the “Small to Medium company” segment. The winners will be announced on the Deshima Business Awards ceremony, which will be hosted together with the Embassy in the fall of 2018. Final date will be announced later.
We look forward to receiving your nomination.
History of the Deshima Business Awards and previous winners
The awards were established in 2000 to recognize Dutch companies demonstrating impressive achievements in successful business development in the Japanese market. Since 2006, NCCJ joined forces with DUJAT (Dutch & Japanese Trade Federation) in awarding this prestigious prize. Nowadays, the Deshima Business Awards are presented alternately in the Netherlands and in Japan, by DUJAT and NCCJ respectively. The NCCJ always receives strong support from its Members and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
