The NCCJ cordially invites you to NCCJ EXCURSION - Tour of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in Tsukuba on 16 March

An exclusive afternoon tour for NCCJ members to learn Japan’s space exploration and R&D at Tsukuba Space Center

Mr. Kimiya Yui is now back in Japan from his 142-day mission at the International Space Station (ISS), 400 kilometers away from the earth. His experience and experiment in its Japanese “Kibo” Experiment Module have now been widely reported in television and newspapers in Japan.

NCCJ has arranged an exclusive afternoon tour to learn about the Japanese space development and exploration, and application experiment to develop cutting edge science and technology at JAXA’s Tsukuba Space Center. Tsukuba in Ibaraki Prefecture is the most advanced R&D center of Japan for future technologies including semi-conductor, pharmaceutical products and water management and natural disaster management. The space center is one of its core facilities.

You will see the huge mock-up of “Kibo”, which is the core laboratory attached to the ISS, and many other exhibits such as real size rockets and astronaut training mock-ups. Also, you will have an exclusive opportunity to observe the JAXA’s space command center. You will have the opportunity to feel bird’s eye views of space exploration activities of Japan, one of the most active countries in space exploration following the U.S. and Russia.

The Netherlands is one the important members of European Space Agency, and has the largest European space research and technology facility in Noordwijk. It is the incubator of the European space efforts, where the first Japanese woman astronaut, Dr. Chiaki Mukai worked together with the late Dutch astronaut Wubbo Ockels to prepare for her mission in the orbit. The Netherlands and Japan have a bilateral agreement for space development, which could be of interests to NCCJ members. The case in point is the fact that PeptiDream, a publicly traded company, and JAXA have made an agreement on comprehensive cooperation for the High-Quality Protein Crystal Growth Experiment on “Kibo”. Why not to learn about the unique Japanese space programs and your business opportunities on this occasion!
