Recognizing Excellence: The Deshima Business Awards 2022 Honors Exceptional Dutch Companies in Japan
The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce in Japan (NCCJ) has been recognizing exceptional Dutch companies that have demonstrated successful business development in Japan since the year 2000 through the Deshima Business Awards. The awards aim to recognize companies, projects and initiatives that have a connection to the Netherlands and have added value to Japanese society. This year’s awards ceremony was held at the Okura Tokyo and was announced by Ms. Ingrid Thijssen, President of VNO-NCW following the Energy Transition seminar as part of a trade mission.
The Deshima Business Awards are highly regarded by the Dutch business community in Japan and the wider international business community. They are recognized as an acknowledgement of excellence, leadership, and innovation in the Japanese market. The awards ceremony was graced by the presence of Ms. Liesje Schreinemacher, the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands, who presented the awards to the winners.
This year, the award in the category of ‘well-established’ was presented to Bollenbedrijf Jan de Wit en Zonen. The company has been in Japan for over 60 years and has demonstrated excellence in business development in Japan. Their successful business model, which focuses on quality and innovation, has enabled them to establish themselves as a leading player in the flower bulb industry in Japan.
The award in the category of ‘newly established’ was presented to Velhoen + Company. The company has been operating in Japan since 5 years and has quickly established itself as a leader in workplace design and consultancy. Their innovative approach to designing and creating workplaces has helped their clients to create a dynamic, engaging and productive work environment.
The ‘encouragement’ award was presented to NEO Search Partners. The company has demonstrated excellence in recruiting highly-skilled professionals in Japan. They launched in March 2022, and the Jury believes their future is bright and promising.
The Deshima Business Awards are an acknowledgement of the excellence, leadership and innovation of Dutch companies in Japan. They serve to recognize the contributions made by these companies to Japanese society and the wider business community. The awards are highly coveted and serve as a testament to the success and resilience of Dutch companies operating in Japan.
