On December 10, The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce in Japan (NCCJ) and the European Business Council in Japan (EBC) co-organised an event that included  presentations from EU Ambassador, H.E. Hans-Dietmar Schweisgut and the Head of Trade at the Delegation of the EU to Japan, Mr. Timo Hammaren, on EU –Japan relations and the latest progress in the EU-Japan Free Trade Agreement (FTA) / Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

The NCCJ held its popular annual Welcome Back Drinks event at the Amusement bar in Shibuya on Sept. 26, to welcome members back to Tokyo after the summer holidays and ease into fall, as well as to give us a chance to mingle, network and catch up with old friends. The event was held in collaboration with NKK, the Dutch circle in the Kanto region.

Inviting participants for JMEC 20!

Sponsored by 17 foreign Chambers of Commerce in Japan, The Japan Market Expansion Competition (JMEC) has been delivering a unique business training programme for 20 years. The programme helps mid-career managers develop practical skills and hands-on experience to create a complete business plan for a real product or service. Participants learn the nuts and bolts of doing business in Japan while expanding their business and social networks by joining nearly 1,000 JMEC alumni.

JMEC Programme Director Trond Varlid says, "Some JMEC alumni have used their JMEC skills to set up their own businesses. Others have made new connections - and several have been hired by their project client companies".

The EU-Japan Centre is launching “Step in Japan”, a new much needed support initiative for SMEs. The service, which is offered free of charge, acts as a landing pad for EU-based SMEs planning on entering into or expanding within Japan.
