Annual General Meeting 2008

<br />The Annual General Meeting was held on 22 May 2008. A PowerPoint presentation was shown at the AGM which included reports by Committee Chairs and election of Management Committee and Auditors. To see the presentation, click here. We’re pleased to announce that the slate of nominees were elected with overwhelming approval. The AGM was well attended. There were no chairs left as you can see in the video.

Spilling beer in Japan

Beer, according to the Urban Dictionary is: “the reason why I get up in the morning and the reason I pass out at night.”

According to Jasper Momma of Heineken Japan, however, beer when consumed in moderate amounts is actually good for your health. Jasper, during his presentation, showed through a series of slides the history of Heineken and the history of beer in Japan. We were for example told that beer was introduced in Japan through the creation of beer following a recipe in a Dutch medical book. Farewell to Auke Rottier

The NCCJ management committee attended a farewell lunch with Auke Rottier on 18th April. Auke was in Japan for about two and a half years, representing DSM, as well as being a very active NCCJ board member. Please tell us something about yourself?
Richard Canneman: I have been in Japan for almost four years. When I was a student of Informatics and Interface Design in the Netherlands I started my own IT company which became successful, I sold it and decided to give Japan a try.
