Online lecture which invites Professor Frederik Cryns from International Research Center for Japanese Studies will be held on March 12. This event is hosted by Japan-Netherlands Society (JNS). 

The diaries of the past heads of the Dutch Trading Post are stored at National Archives in Den Haag. These diaries are full of information that tells you about the society and culture of old days in Japan. Prof. Cryns studied about the disasters described in detail in the diaries. Prof. Cryns will tell us how the people survived in Edo era, when we had as many disasters as today.
