| September 11, 2009 | ||
| 7:00 pm | to | 9:00 pm |
The program began with opening remarks and toast by NCCJ Chair, Jeroen Dalderop, who welcomed all. He noted the importance of both Japanese and Dutch cooperating together in NCCJ to promote continued good relations between the Netherlands and Japan. Next was a video of highlights in the 400 years history of Netherlands-Japan trade relations created by YR-Design. Beginning with Deshima scenes, the collage of images gave glimpses of the many Dutch accomplishments and influences in design, industry, culture, sports, etc. which demonstrated the strong ties between the two countries. NCCJ was pleased to have Netherlands Ambassador Mr Philip de Heer as the guest speaker. The Ambassador noted the uniquely long history of close relations between Japan and the Netherlands but also the many challenges for the future for both Japan, Europe and the world. Environmental, economy and trade issues are among the important areas in which Netherlands and Japan can continue to cooperate.
After a scrumptious dessert buffet, it was time for the drawing of the special prizes. Needless to say, all hoped their name would be called and six very elated people got their wish! NCCJ would like to thank the following donors for their generous donations: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines for two round trip business-class tickets to Amsterdam, Grand Hyatt Tokyo for one-night stay for two in their Grand Room, Roppongi Hills Club for a dinner for two, Asian Tigers Premier Worldwide Movers for use of a Porsche for a fun weekend, and Philips Electronics for unique lamp. Even if not a prize-winner, all received a gift bag including delicious Dutch stoopwafels courtesy of Anchor Japan, a “History of 400 yrs made by the Netherlands Embassy, copy of the video shown during the program and travel brochure from the Netherlands Board of Tourism.
Three hours went by very quickly as all enjoyed a wonderful evening celebrating this very special anniversary.
