On 15 April a large group of almost 40 NCCJ and other Chamber members attended the Business Round Table (BRT) breakfast meeting held in the splendid venue for this event, the City Club of Tokyo. Guest speaker was Chairman of the European Business Council, Mr. Tommy Kullberg. He was the Founder and served as President & CEO of IKEA Japan KK and was responsible for the overall IKEA market entry, build-up and operation in Japan. Currently he is Chairman & Representative Director of Kullberg & Partners. He also joined the Board of Directors of H&M (Hennes & Mauritz Japan KK) and supported the company’s entry into the Japanese market.ß

In a brand new series called: “Approaching Customers in Japan”, the NCCJ has started Luncheon Meeting events focussing on ways of how agencies in Japan create structures to approach customers. Brendan McMahon, Chief Corporate Strategist Diamond Agency started his talk with a brief review of how he transformed a “moribund domestic agency” into a powerful, creative player in the Japanese media market. In  the second part of the presentation we were shown a series of technological products such as in-store music and video programmes that can be customized for specific locations. Clients that are using these products include Lawson. During as well as after Brendan’s presentation many questions were asked, making this again a very successful NCCJ event.
