The NCCJ attendants learned at fully booked event at ValueCommerce about internet advertising. Scott Neville, Marketing Director at ValueCommerce briefly explained about company’s history, from the humble beginnings in 1996 as an internet hosting company to the leading internet advertising company with 600M+ ads a day it is today.
Scott mentioned that Japan has about 28M internet users and about 9M bloggers, moreover about 25% of Japanese internet users self-publish either a blog or internet page online. Interesting also to hear the fact that 32% of world wide blogs are in Japanese.

"Internet marketing, is shifting towards cost per action ads, which is the focus of ValueCommerce", Scott told us, "We are not selling traditional advertising space, we are selling results" he went on. We were shown a demonstration of how Affiliate Marketing works, a system in which affiliates can select links to add to their websites or blogs and will get paid from the traffic that they drive through their sites.
